Savour the Spirit of Wales: Elevenses Welsh Dry Gin

Savour the Spirit of Wales: Elevenses Welsh Dry Gin

Hello, gin lovers! Fancy a tipple? Today, we’re taking a closer look at our beautiful Welsh Dry Gin. This exceptional spirit is distilled with love and precision in a small 250L still on the picturesque Faenol Estate in North Wales. Trust us when we say, this isn't just any gin - it's a true Welsh gem!

The Flavour Journey

Elevenses Welsh Dry Gin is a combination of botanicals that captures the essence of the Welsh landscape. We’re talking fresh juniper berries, cassia bark, ginger, orris root, liquorice root, orange peel, coriander seed, peppercorns, cubeb seeds and finally angelica, all harmoniously balanced to create a crisp and refreshing profile. There’s a subtle earthiness and a touch of floral notes, making every sip a unique experience.

Perfect Pairings

Now, let’s talk about pairing this beauty! When it comes to food, Elevenses Welsh Dry Gin is a match made in heaven with seafood. Think smoked salmon blinis or even a classic fish and chips - both of which are elevated by the gin’s crisp botanical notes. For those with a sweet tooth, try it with a slice of lemon drizzle cake. The citrus elements of the gin will beautifully complement the zesty cake!

For drinks, the classic gin and tonic is a no-brainer. But why stop there? This gin loves to mingle! Mix it with a splash of elderflower tonic and a twist of lemon for a floral, fragrant delight. Or, for something a little more adventurous, how about we shake things up with a cocktail recipe?

A Welsh Martini made with Elevenses Welsh Dry Gin, garnishes with a lemon twist

Elevenses Welsh Martini

Ingredients:
50ml Elevenses Welsh Dry Gin
15ml dry vermouth
1 tsp lemon juice
Lemon twist or olives for garnish
Ice

Method:

  1. Chill the Glass: Begin by filling your martini glass with ice to chill it. A properly chilled glass makes all the difference!
  2. Mix: In a cocktail shaker, combine the Elevenses Welsh Dry Gin, dry vermouth, and a teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Fill the shaker with ice.
  3. Shake It Up: Shake vigorously for about 20 seconds. This not only chills the drink but also slightly dilutes it, enhancing the flavours.
  4. Strain: Empty the ice from your martini glass and strain the mixture into the chilled glass.
  5. Garnish: For a traditional touch, garnish with a lemon twist. Or if you prefer a savoury note, add a couple of olives.

This version of the Welsh Martini is just as sophisticated but with an added hint of lemon to brighten up the profile. It’s easy to make and perfect for any occasion. Enjoy!

Whether you’re sipping it neat by a campfire, mixing it into a summery cocktail, or pairing it with your favourite dishes, Elevenses Welsh Dry Gin is your go-to spirit. It’s versatile, it’s vibrant, and it’s made with the heart and soul of Wales.
